A Certain Fury Guided Me

2018 - 2024

A Certain Fury Guided Me is a visual process of reconciling the tensions, relations and transformations that I experiment in my displacements, which began once I left Sao Tome at 16 years old.

Through photography, archive, and texts, I examine my diasporic trajectory, under the light of the archipelagic thought of Martinican philosopher Édouard Glissant, to weave a personal map of emotional geographies.

The project is a reflection on identity construction and memory in the context of contemporary migration narratives.

A Certain Fury Guided Me is realised as a 56-page photobook,  containing images from my personal archive spanning 2011 to 2024, produced mainly across Barcelona, Lisbon, Taipei, and São Tomé.
