perfect conditions to flourish is an ongoing exploration of the complexity of gardens through walking and listening exercises. These spatio-temporal experiences are recorded through photographs, sound, video and writing.
Inspired by Amilcar Cabral's theories on the interconnectedness of human and nonhuman liberation (Cabral, Resistance and Decolonization, 2016 ), the work examines the multiplicity of resistances and meaning that emerge from this space, echoing Foucault's Of Other Spaces: Heterotopias (1967).
With open bodies, we listen.
Work initiated during Affective Ecologies, an artist residency in Lisbon, focused on the contemporary relevance of Amílcar Cabral’s thought, an initiative by Hangar and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
