Resistance Against Resistance is a series of walking exercises centered on sound, using the city of Lisbon as the backdrop.
The ongoing body of work includes photographs, texts, video and a sound piece, documenting and reflecting on sonic walks through a constellation of places - Bairro da Graça, Cova da Moura, Tapada das Necessidades, Vila Franca de Xira. During these walks, I explore my bodily sensations in relation to the city’s soundscape, thinking-in-movement.
The project aims to open discussions about sound healing, embodied presence as a way of resistance, urban design (periphery vs center), the resilience of ecosystems.
With open bodies, we listen.
Work initiated during Affective Ecologies, an artist residency focused on the contemporary relevance of Amílcar Cabral’s thought, an initiative by Hangar and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
